There are 2 types of turnips: summer turnip sown between March and June and winter turnip sown between mid-July and mi-August. Harvesting takes place 2 months after for summer turnips and 3 for winter turnips.

Turnip can be attacked by pests such as flea beetles, slugs or turnip fly (they are small insects that degrade the leaves; holes appearing on the leaves) and also diseases: downy mildew (a fungus that causes the appearance of brown spots on the leaves) or turnip clubroot (a fungus that deteriorates the roots). Subsequently these diseases cause a slower growth of the plant, which can even lead to the death of the latter. Turnip is a vegetable but also a root.
