Planting takes place between February and March. Harvesting takes place 3 to 4 months after planting. The fruit is a rather long pod (10 to 20 cm) and contains from 4 to 9 seeds. These are the biggest of all pulses.

Like any vegetable, it is faced with pests and diseases, such as downy mildew (a fungus that causes the appearance of brown spots on the leaves), rust (appearance of red spots on the leaves), aphids (an insect that will degrade the leaves and suck the sap). Subsequently these diseases cause a slower growth of the plant, which can even lead to the death of the latter. Broad bean is a vegetable but also a seed.
